Back by Popular Demand, Flutist Rebecca Kleinmann returns with another all star ensemble of exquisite musicians performing a Raw-Acoustic mixture of Venezuela, Argentina, Cuba music & more. Featuring: Rebecca Kleinmann, flutes and vocals, Jackie Rago, cuatro and percussion, Carlos Caminos, guitar, Marlon Aldana, percussion, and Sasha Jacobsen, bass. Special guest dancer: Juliana Mendonca.

Rebecca Kleinmann, internationally beloved flutist and singer, enjoys a diverse and rich musical career. Originally from North Carolina, she grew up simultaneously trained in Classical Music and learning by heart in the gospel church. After graduating from the acclaimed Indiana University School of Music in Jazz Studies under David Baker, she went on to explore and immerse herself in the cultures of the music she felt drawn to: spending time in Spain, NYC, Ireland, Argentina, and especially Brazil.  Constantly deepening her affinity with Brazilian music, she has collaborated and shared stages with greats including Hermeto Pascoal, Airto Moreira, Toninho Horta, and Jovino Santos Neto.

Rebecca has graced stages including the SF Jazz Center, Healdsburg Jazz Festival, the San Jose Jazz Festival, Yoshi's and tours internationally. She has recorded two solo albums "Raio de Sol" and "Intuição Verdadeira," a collaboration "Brasiliense" with guitarist Ian Faquini, and participated on dozens of albums and sound tracks. She collaborates with great musicians including pianist Taylor Eigsti, harpist Destiny Muhammad and Grupo Falso Baiano.  After 20 years in California she recently  moved back to North Carolina, residing in Durham where she is in collaboration with musicians of the Jazz department faculty at UNC Chapel Hill, accompanying in the Dance department at Duke University and preparing a new Quintet featuring Sylvia Cuenca, Essiet Essiet, Dr. Stephen Anderson and Rahsaan Barber. For this special Birthday celebration at Yoshi's, Rebecca brings together some of the Bay Area's best musicians from South America. From Venezuela: virtuoso cuatro player and percussionist Jackie Rago, (who recently played at Carnegie Hall with Jon Batiste), brilliant guitarist Carlos Caminos and dancer Juliana Mendonca. From Mexico and specializing in flamenco and South American and Caribbean music: beloved percussionist Marlon Aldana. From Oakland and residing now in Argentina, specializing in tango music, Grammy nominated upright bassist Sascha Jacobsen. The result is a unique ensemble with chemistry and a dynamic program of beautiful, intricate and energetic music from Venezuela, Argentina, Cuba and beyond.  rebeccakleinmann.com
