The Gap Band, a renowned funk and soul ensemble founded by the infamous Wilson brothers are celebrated for their contributions to the music scene with timeless hits including “Outstanding” and “You Dropped a Bomb on Me.” The journey to stardom began in 1979 with the release of their debut album “The Gap Band” which climbed to the #10 position on the R&B Albums chart with the help of their first hit single entitled "Shake” The combination of the Wilson brothers and their talented band members created a powerful musical force. The Gap Band’s dynamic performances, marked by their rich vocal harmonies and energetic instrumentation, have solidified their legacy in the realm of funk and soul music. As principle members Billy Young (Keyboards), Wayman Starks (Keyboards/Programming), and Terry Scott (Guitar) prepare a Gap Band resurgence in 2025, we not only remember former members, but we embrace the new ones that will surely bring everybody aboard the “ Party Train” and have audiences “Yearning” for more as they recreate the sound that we all love.
