PIEDMONT MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL BANDS

The Award winning Piedmont High School Jazz Band was founded by Dr. Andria Mullan in the early 2000’s.  It began as an after school program for interested middle and high school students in 2005 and became a PHS semester class in 2011.  In 2014 it was added to the Piedmont HIgh School Music Department curriculum as a full year Jazz Band class. Currently under the direction of  Mr. Trevor Meseroll, the members are chosen by audition and must re-audition each year for a spot in the Band.  Repertoire includes swing, Latin, funk, soul, and pop.

The Middle School jazz program began around 2011 when jazz was added as a component to the 7th and 8th grade Band music classes.  However, with the popularity of the PHS Jazz Band, the Piedmont Middle School Band created a 7th grade Jazz Band and an 8th grade Jazz Band several years later.

Members of the PHS Jazz Band have gone on to pursue music careers at some of the top music schools in the country, including the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, the New School in NYC, and Berklee School of Music in Boston.

These 2 concerts will feature the PHS Jazz Band and several smaller Jazz combos, as well as the 7th Grade Jazz Band on the 6:30 concert and the 8th Grade Jazz Band on the 8:30 concert.
