Directed by Rio Nickerson, the Las Lomas High School Jazz Band is a high-energy group of student musicians whose love of music and commitment to excellence make every performance a memorable experience.
From classic jazz standards to contemporary arrangements, the ensemble performs a diverse repertoire that highlights the creativity and versatility of each musician.
Accolades include high scores at multiple competitive jazz events, individual student awards for outstanding soloists/musicianship, scholarships, as well as county- and state-level honor bands.
Many students in this group also perform outside of school on a regular basis with groups like the East Bay Jazz All Stars, the Rossmoor Big Band, and advanced groups at the School of Rock.
Coming from Walnut Creek and returning to this stage for their annual performance in Oakland, the Las Lomas High School Jazz Band is so excited to be back at Yoshi's.
