Oakland-based pianist, MC, producer, and composer Kev Choice is a commanding live performer known for electrifying stages with a seamless fusion of hip-hop, jazz, soul, and classical music. A virtuosic pianist and dynamic bandleader, Kev has built a reputation for high-energy, emotionally resonant performances that move effortlessly between improvisation, orchestration, and groove-driven storytelling. He has shared the stage and collaborated with iconic artists, including Lauryn Hill, Goapele, Ledisi, and E-40, and has performed at premier venues such as SFJAZZ and the Paramount Theatre. Nationally, he served as Co-Musical Director for E-40’s NPR Tiny Desk performance, further highlighting his ability to bring complex, large-scale musical visions to life.

Kev’s artistry extends from the stage to the studio, with a catalog of acclaimed releases including Oakland Riviera, Love & Revolution, 88 Steps to Eternity, and Social Distancing. His music reflects a deep commitment to groove, composition, and innovation—often blending live instrumentation with modern production. As a composer and arranger, his work has been performed by the Oakland Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony, showcasing his ability to translate Black musical traditions into expansive orchestral settings.
