America first fell in love with Clay Aiken's extraordinary voice and undeniable charisma on the second season of American Idol. His journey on the show became a cultural phenomenon, drawing nearly 40 million viewers to the finale—one of the highest-rated live television broadcasts of the 21st century—and launching one of the most successful recording careers to emerge from the series.

Aiken's first single, “This Is The Night,” made history as the first track by a brand-new artist to enter the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1, selling nearly 400,000 copies in its opening week. The follow-up, “Invisible,” became a defining early-2000s pop hit, climbing to No. 37 on the Hot 100 and earning RIAA Gold certification. His debut album, Measure of a Man, then entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 and went multi-platinum, cementing him as one of pop music's biggest new artists. Among his early highlights was the chart-topping holiday album Merry Christmas with Love, which still holds the record for the largest debut week ever for a holiday album in the SoundScan era.

During the first seven years of his recording career, Aiken sold more than six million albums worldwide while becoming a fixture on television and one of the most successful touring artists to emerge from the early 2000s pop era. His rich tenor voice, emotional delivery, and ability to effortlessly move between contemporary pop, adult contemporary, inspirational music, and timeless standards have earned him a loyal, multi-generational audience.

Aiken’s career has extended well beyond the recording studio, including a Broadway run in Monty Python’s Spamalot and a reunion with Ruben Studdard in 2018 for Ruben & Clay’s First Annual Christmas Carol Family Fun Pageant Spectacular Reunion Show, which The New York Times hailed as “a Christmas miracle.” The pair reunited once again in 2023 for a tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their landmark American Idol season before competing together on Fox’s The Masked Singer in 2024 as The Beets.

Beyond his music, Aiken has long been an advocate for children with disabilities. Drawing on his pre-fame experience as a special education teacher, he co-founded the National Inclusion Project in 2003, which has since helped thousands of kids with disabilities take part in camps, after-school programs, and community activities in more than 40 states. He also spent a decade as a UNICEF ambassador, traveling to Afghanistan, Somalia, Indonesia, Mexico, Uganda, and Kenya to advocate for children's protection and education.

In 2026, Aiken began an exciting new musical chapter with the release of his first new music in eighteen years. His single "Rewind," written by Colton Avery and Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter Dave Audé and produced by Audé, marked both a return to recording and a fresh creative direction. The release coincided with Aiken's homecoming to the American Idol stage, where he debuted the song during the season finale.

As he reintroduces himself to longtime fans and new listeners alike, Aiken is once again focused on what has always defined his career: exceptional songs, unforgettable performances, and one of the most recognizable voices in popular music.
