Alvon Johnson is an internationally acclaimed vocalist, guitarist, recording artist, and entertainer whose remarkable career crosses the worlds of blues, jazz, R&B, and classic rock & roll.
A defining chapter of Alvon’s career was his time as a vocalist with the world-famous, award-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group The Coasters. Performing with this legendary group placed Alvon within one of the most celebrated traditions in American popular music and gave him the opportunity to perform the classic songs, comedy, and unforgettable showmanship associated with The Coasters.
Today, that experience remains an important part of who Alvon Johnson is as an entertainer. Along with performing songs from his years with The Coasters, he brings audiences a sophisticated blend of blues, jazz, swing, R&B, and timeless American standards.
As a Contemporary Jazz Crooner, Alvon draws inspiration from legendary vocalists including Frank Sinatra, Joe Williams, Johnny Hartman, and Nat King Cole. His guitar influences are equally distinguished, ranging from Wes Montgomery and Charlie Christian to Andrés Segovia and Jimi Hendrix.
Whether fronting a small band, performing with a big band, or appearing as a solo guitarist and vocalist, Alvon has developed a style that combines musicianship, sophistication, humor, storytelling, and genuine audience connection.

AN ENTERTAINER IN EVERY SENSE
Music is only part of what makes an Alvon Johnson performance distinctive.
Known for his natural comedic style and ability to communicate with an audience, Alvon worked with entertainers including Reynaldo Rey, Robin Harris, Skillet & Leroy, and LaWanda Page.
Those experiences helped him develop the humor, timing, storytelling, and stage presence that later served him especially well during his years performing with The Coasters.
