Davell Crawford, a Steinway & Sons Artist, and an all-around musical sensation, is one of the true genius wonders of the contemporary Crescent City music scene. Performing professionally since the age of seven, today, he’s considered as one of the best keep secrets in American Roots Music. Davell lives a quiet life away from the spotlight and rarely performs publicly, but he has enjoyed a wild widely acclaimed career as an entertainer. He emerged as a teenage piano terror and began to unfold his incredible talent before the world. He has toured the world for years performing to sold out audiences and has been a committed advocate for the arts and young creatives from all genres of art. While touring and recording, he’s also taught in schools, given masters classes and workshops about artistry, the importance of American Roots musics – Traditional Jazz, Jazz, Gospel, Country, Funk, Soul and R&B. He continues inspiring young artist around the world by providing scholarships, and opportunities through mentorship, and other philanthropic work. 

Hailed as “The Prince of New Orleans,” for his community and philanthropic work, Crawford has been awarded throughout the world as a musician and has performed extensively throughout the states and many countries including Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France, Russia, Finland, Dominica, Brazil, Morocco, and Portugal among others at festivals, concert halls and clubs. Cited as one of the few musicians committed to keeping the piano sounds of New Orleans alive, he stands as one of the most versatile and most documented young pianist in America today. Davell has recorded and worked with Dr. John, Mavis Staples, Ruth Brown, Roberts Flack , Stephaine Mills, Aaron Neville, Cassandra Wilson, Donald Harrison, Big Freedia, Bernard Purdie, James Moody, The Wild Magnolias, Rita Moreno, Carol Connors, Lillias White, The Louisiana Philhormonic, The New Orleans Uptown Orchestra, The New Jazz Orchestra, and many others. He has been a featured performer for many years festivals including Montreux, Umbria, Smithsonian Folk Life Festival, West Coast Blues Festival, Pori Jazz Festival, Ascona, Bern Jazz Festival, Nice Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival among others. Davell Crawford, from a long line of New Orleans piano legends, has kept true to the music while adding a little freshness and vitality. He’s latest album is a collection of Christian music titled, “Abide With Me, Hymns and Spirituals for Solo Piano”, on the Steinway & Sons Record label.
