At the heart of San Francisco's infamous Jazz Mafia, you'll find The Shotgun Wedding Quintet - A group of 5 powerful musical personalities with the sound of a 10-piece band...literally. By taking advantage of modern technology, these guys use electronic sampling devices to layer their sound, an original technique this band has mastered. Based in the Mission District, The SWQ has garnered a loyal following of Hip-Hop and Jazz enthusiasts. Since 2003 they've worked extensively on touring throughout California, and opening for groups like Digital Underground, Tone Loc, Zion-I and more. The band consists of some of the Bay Area's finest musicians, many of which have performed with Lyrics Born, Zion-I, Spearhead, and the Realistic Orchestra. Rapper Dublin uses today's headlines to create what he calls "Freestyle Narratives"; often times incorporating the thoughts and ideas of audience members into an unsurpassable live show. Up and coming Bay Area DJ/Producer Aspect incorporates unique samples, and creative turn-table scratches to help build the deep soundscape within the rhythm section. All of these elements combined make for an incredible live performance. The Shotgun Wedding Quintet is a band to be seen, heard, and understood.
