Juan Jose Escovedo is the first born son of four siblings. Following in the footsteps of his father, Pete Escovedo, Juan started playing percussion at the age of ten. When he turned 14, he began performing with his father and fell in love with all aspects: the audience, the stage, and the excitement of playing live music.
Juan began teaching himself at a very young age how to play bongos, congas, trap drums, timbales, percussion, and other instruments. People were amazed at the talent behind his hands. Soon Juan knew that he would make a name for himself.
Juan became recognized by the entertainment industry, bringing to it his unique style of R&B, Pop and Latin Jazz. Before long he toured and recorded with many artists such as, Prince, Tony, Toni, Tone, Patti LaBelle, Lou Bega, MC Hammer, En Vogue, El DeBarge, Freddie Hubbard, Barry White, Herbie Hancock, Teri Lynn Carrington, Bobby McFerrin, Tito Puente, Cheryl Lynn, his sister Sheila E., his father Pete Escovedo, and many others.
Juan's experience in the entertainment indudstry includes more than touring and recording; his talents have carried him to the big screen as well. He has made special appearances in JACK starring Robin Williams, CHASING PAPI starring Roselyn Sanchez and Jaci Velasquez, FORD FAIRLANE starring Andrew Dice Clay, and KRUSH GROOVE starring Run DMC, LL Cool J, and Sheila E. Juan has also made a cameo appearance in Bobby Womack's video "Save The Children".
Juan has expanded his musical talent by writing songs of his own and is a uniquely gifted musician who brings his own sound to the stage. Currently performing with his own orchestra, he has received overwhelming success. He is humbled by the countless blessings he and his family have been given, getting to express themselves musically and sharing their love of music with others.
Juan Escovedo was born to perform.
